“ One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. I think it’s second only to the lobster ravioli in Maine. I had the veil that was amazing. The onion tarts needs to be a regular in the menu, amazing. I’ve had a few fancy French meals in my life, one of which was 250 and this was half that and was better. The wait staff is also one of a kind. Knowledgeable and hilarious, he knew us well. Fantastic. Creme brulee was also one of the best I’ve ever had and I order it whenever it’s available as it’s one of my favorites. ”

“ Much of the appeal of the Leelanau area is spending time with your kids and grandchildren in such a wonderful spot. When you are ready to avoid children, then you can't really do better than eating here. Take a tour of the parking lot on any summer night and you will see what I mean, You won't find mini vans or trashed out kid cruisers here. Porsche, Mercedes, Bently, Range Rover, Ferrari... These are the vehicles that deliver the middle aged to this restaurant in droves for a civilized meal. The actual restaurant is OK, the decor and food are fine. Up here however, a little above average is good enough, and to eat with other classy adults is a luxury all its own. I'm not even into "fine dining" but my wife and I do enjoy this place quite a bit. I highly recommend. ”

Susan and I are doubly blessed. One of our closest neighbors is also our favorite restaurant. La Becasse is an elegant yet warm and inviting French country restaurant, just a 5 minute stroll away. Guillaume Hazael-Massieux is a consummate French chef, yet not the stereotypical restaurateur/autocrat portrayed in so many Chef films. He is also a soccer playing, devoted husband/father, and the proud keeper of a of flock of chickens. We have been loving special meals here for 20 years. We don’t remember a misstep in the delicious classic recipes often enlivened by an inventive personal touch or the impeccable yet friendly service. The La Becasse wine cellar is a treasure in itself. ”
